RECENT UPDATE (May 19, 2020):
While City facilities are currently closed until May 31, 2020 in response to the San Mateo County Health Officer’s updated COVID-19 Shelter Order, helpful info on County Health Ordinance site, County Health FAQs. Community Development Department employees are working from home and in the field. We are readily available via email to continue accepting and processing applications for Building and Planning Permits and to answer questions, see below.
Building Permits: Ben Corrales is accepting building permit applications online ONLY via email at (email@example.com)
Building Inspection: City Building Inspection will continue to check the inspection hotline voicemail and conduct inspections on projects where social distancing requirements can be met. Please call the inspection hotline to request an inspection at 650-726-8794.
Building inspections ensure that projects are constructed in compliance with codes and the approved permit and plans. Inspections should be scheduled 24 hours in advance.

Monday - Thursday: 8:00 am – 3:00 pm
Scheduling an Inspection
Schedule an inspection on a project with a current permit 650-726-8794.
Please be prepared to leave the following information on the voicemail:
- Contact Person’s Name and phone number on construction site
- Date of a needed inspection
- Permit number
- Project Address
- Type of inspection
*PLEASE CALL BY 5PM ON THURSDAY FOR A MONDAY INSPECTION*
Prior to scheduling a final inspection, obtain final approval from all other applicable departments. Please make sure the following items are submitted to the Building Department:
- Business License
- Construction and Demolition Recycling Form (PDF)
- Smoke Detector and Carbon Monoxide Handout (Residential Only) (PDF)
- Building Department Home Page with new updates (as of May 1, 2020)

Work is only allowed to be preformed during these hours:
- Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 6:00 pm
- Saturday 8:00 am - 6:00 pm
- Sunday & Holidays 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
