Project Description: The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires all public agencies to adopt a Transition Plan to evaluate and identify physical barriers that prevent public access to services and programs. In response to the 504 Rehabilitation Act, ADA Title II, the City conducted an assessment of the physical accessibility of its facilities – many of which were renovated, replaced or are in need of upgrades. The City also provided ample opportunity for public participation including individuals with disabilities to participate in the development of the Transition Plan. The City’s Transition Plan ensures access to facilities, programs and services for persons with disabilities; and over the next few years, the City will initiate projects to continue to upgrade facilities to comply with Federal mandates.
