Class Name: Dog Training Tricks and Treats (and Canine Good Citizen)

Instructor: Marian Pott

Class Description: Intermediate level training class open to dogs which have a strong foundation of beginning level training of obedience.  A variety of tricks will be taught along with Canine Good Citizen skills. The last night of class will include Novice and Intermediate level tricks testing in the American Kennel Club program—passing dogs may achieve the appropriate level title from AKC; testing will also be conducted for CGC and Advanced CGC for anyone training for these AKC designations.  Dogs earning a CGC title this night (or which already have a CGC) will be tested on 5 tricks; dogs without the CGC will be tested on 10 tricks.  Dogs with a TKN (Trick Dog Novice) title will work towards and test on the TKI (Trick Dog Intermediate).  Both CGC and Tricks training will enhance your dog’s obedience skills, manners, and more importantly your relationship with your companion.  Let Marian know before or on the first night of class your training goals for your dog. See www.akc.org/cgc (and the Trick Dog program).  The skills necessary to pass testing for the CGC and CGCA will be emphasized--good manners in a public setting, better K9 companionship, and potential future involvement in therapy dog work (hospitals, assisted living, school programs, etc.) for those interested.

Equipment: 6-foot leash, flat collar, training collar already in use, long training line and/or retractable, treats your dog LOVES, treat pouch, toy.
