Half Moon Bay is located on the Pacific Coast between forested hills and some of the most beautiful coastlines that California has to offer.

Administrative Services

Administrative Services serves the City staff and community by providing human resources, information technology, emergency services, and contract administration programs.

City Attorney

The City Attorney, reporting directly to the City Council, provides the Council and staff with legal advice, counsel, and representation.

City Council

The City Council of Half Moon Bay is the City’s governing body, and consists of five elected members. The Council sets priorities and policies, makes final decisions on all major City matters, adopts ordinances and resolutions, appoints the City Manager and City Attorney, and approves the annual budget.

City Manager

The City Manager is the chief administrative officer of Half Moon Bay, responsible for the proper and efficient management of the City, and implementing the City Council’s policies.

Communications/City Clerk

The City Clerk supports the City Council, promotes openness in government, maintains City records, prepares agendas, and conducts municipal elections.

Community Development

Community Development enhances the community’s quality of life and protects coastal resources through long range planning, capital improvements, development review, economic development, and code enforcement.

Fire Protection

Fire protection services are provided to Half Moon Bay and other coastside communities by the Coastside Fire Protection District, a division of CalFire.

Law Enforcement

Since mid-2011, law enforcement services have been provided to the community of Half Moon Bay through a contract with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

Public Works

Public Works enhances the community through engineering, capital projects, sustainability efforts, solid waste services, and infrastructure and facilities maintenance programs.
